A three-part story examining how French, British, First Nations and Colonial Americans vied for control of the strategic Colony of "Nova Scotia" (formerly French "Acadia") during the 18th Century. This 'trilogy' of tales is mainly seen through the eyes of British merchant seaman, Bryan Hawkins, captured by the French, released to the British and eventually electing to serve with a tough corps of colonial rangers serving British forces. He falls in love with an Acadian farm girl who he weds but she is killed in a tragic series of events during the American Revolution. With the remainder of his family, Hawkins strives to rebuild his life, as always encountering famous and infamous characters of the Period.
