While trying not to lose hope at times, every so often the dots came together, and the symptoms dawned on me: "Oh wow!" Once the pattern of symptoms appears again, I can address the situation much more quickly. Limited information is available about PANS. I really need to share this information with other parents because I didn't know of any book focusing on viral triggers for PANS, and certainly no book about toxins flaring PANS, or even the connection between virus and toxin co-triggers. This illness is so complex. School staff in the past have been unwilling to take on the nuances of how learning requires repetitive instruction.

If your brain is inflamed, it makes it very difficult to concentrate or retain learnings. It is certainly more fatiguing for children with PANS; the concept of regular brain breaks and checking in is really important. The idea that children may need to be prompted for hydration and the like could simply be implemented. All children could benefit from this health measure!
