After Melios' disappointment over the marriage of his beloved Agrambeli and being chased by the police for once again defending the weak, his journey continues, this time to a big city, coming face to face with the harsh reality of Thessaloniki. After his initial acquaintance with petty swindlers and prostitutes, he manages to find work as a librarian. His contact with the city's literary circle pushes him to write his first poems.
In the library, he flirts with a female customer and falls in love again. There, he unexpectedly meets Agrambeli, his teenage love. His acquaintance with persecuted leftists leaves a mark on him, and so, beneath the castles of the big city, he wanders once again, full of hope for a better tomorrow. However, his unrequited love and the tragic revelation about the life of his old sweetheart will destroy everything he had built up until then with so much effort...
