BARBARA BROWNING has a PhD in comparative literature from Yale. She teaches in the Department of Performance Studies at the Tisch School of the Arts, NYU. She's also a poet and a dancer. She is the author of The Correspondence Artist, winner of a Lambda Literary Award, I'm Trying to Reach You, a Believer Book Award Finalist, and The Gift. She lives in upstate New York.
