Barbara Postema is Lecturer in English at the University of Groningen. She has contributed work on narrative theory, wordless comics, and abstract comics to Image and Narrative, theJournal of Graphic Novels and Comics, and the International Journal of Comic Art, as well as collections such as Comics is..., The Cambridge History of the Graphic Novel, and Abstraction and Comics. She served as President of the Canadian Society for the Study of Comics, and was a Member-at-Large for the Comics Studies Society. Her book Narrative Structure in Comics was published in translation in Brazil in 2018.
