Vanden Bossche is Professor Emeritus of English at the University of Notre Dame, author of Carlyle and the Search for Authority and Reform Acts: Chartism, Social Agency, and the Victorian Novel, 1832-1867, and editor-in-chief of the Norman and Charlotte Strouse Edition of the Writings of Thomas Carlyle.

Mark A. Allison is Charles M. Weis Professor of English at Ohio Wesleyan University and author of Imagining Socialism: Aesthetics, Anti-politics, and Literature in Britain, 1817-1918.
