Kelly Martin is an author and mental health advocate based in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. After many years living and working in the south of England, Kelly returned to her birthplace in the North East following a period of profound personal change and loss. Between 2022 and 2024, Kelly experienced the deaths of her mother, her long-term partner of twenty years, and a close friend, alongside multiple house moves and the loss of employment. These years marked a deeply transformative chapter, leading Kelly to take a sabbatical from work and focus on healing, reflection, and rebuilding life from the ground up. Kelly is the author of two books exploring resilience and learning to shine amid adversity. Her latest book, Slippers in the Attic, was written in the raw aftermath of grief and loss. It offers an honest, compassionate exploration of mourning, identity, and the slow process of finding steadiness again. Written from lived experience, the book speaks to those navigating grief, emotional exhaustion, and life transitions. Alongside her writing, Kelly has built a long-standing online presence through mental health blogging, podcasting, and previously running a mental health radio station, creating safe spaces for people to explore their inner worlds. Her work has also appeared on platforms such as Tiny Buddha and Having Time. Now settled back in the North East, Kelly is gradually restarting life and work, supported by her partner, Paul Tallentire. Her writing continues to centre on compassion, self-awareness, and the belief that even after profound loss, it is possible to begin again. Kelly can be found at her long-running blog and her author website . A new book is planned for 2026, aimed at supporting those who feel stuck or uncertain about their next chapter.
