Seventeen-year-old Trevor Taylor has lived his short life being ruled by addiction. Not wanting to be alone in his misery, he takes his little brother, eleven-year-old Dustin, along for the ride, until one fateful night when a freak drug lab explosion kills the elder brother, along with his two partners.
"God, please let him come back," Dustin prays every night, begging whatever watches above to let him see his brother one last time.
Unfortunately, what watches above is always listening, and it is not God.
Dustin, now seventeen himself, begins to have a creeping suspicion that he and his mother, Desta, are not alone in the house anymore, and that Trevor may have returned to have one last adventure.
Lies, gaslighting, and past abuses soon come to light, showing that sometimes the true horror comes not from what we can't see, but from what stands right in front of us, silently feeding off of our sanity until we are consumed.
