W. WAYNE LAUTT is Professor Emeritus in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Manitoba and has written over 200 publications, receiving national and international awards for research and teaching. He first told fictional tales of Grimes to his children, Kelly and Mick, as bedtime stories in 1977 while teaching them how to survive in the wild. He has since been writing the trilogy for decades to take breaks from writing scientific articles.
Wayne lives in Vancouver, BC, on the banks of the Fraser River with his high school sweetheart, Melanie. Wayne has worked as an educator and a medical researcher, as well as founding a biotech startup, SciMar, in 2009, to bring to market, discoveries made as an academic. He is still actively publishing in the scientific field.
