As I reflect on my journey, I realize that although I may not have been a classic old-world rebel, I was undoubtedly a rebel without a cause. At the turn of the new millennium, in the bustling metropolis of Mumbai, I found myself at a perplexing crossroads. What could possibly trouble a 17 - 18-year-old in a city brimming with opportunities, often dubbed the "city of dreams"?
The Early Years: At the dawn of my adulthood, my perception of success was singular and misguided ? making money. Education seemed irrelevant on my path to fortune, or so I believed. Consequently, I chose not to pursue a college education. My stubbornness was matched only by deadly cocktail of arrogance and confidence. It was a recipe for disaster that could have led me down a perilous path, had I not intervened in my own life.
Life's Intervention: Thankfully, life has a way of intervening, especially for those who are willing to listen. The following three years proved to be as dramatic as they were instructive, as unstable as they were edifying. These were the formative years that reshaped my perspective and rekindled my willingness to learn. The rebellious streak in me slowly made way for a fighting spirit, one that was both encouraging and accepting.
