Today football has become big business especially in the United Kingdom.
In 2017 the Government tasked Tracey Crouch MP to chair the Independent Fan Led Review of Football Governance. The "Crouch Report" led to a White Paper entitled "A Sustainable Future ? Reforming Club Football Governance", which in its turn has culminated in two editions of the Football Governance Bill being introduced in 2024.
The progress of the first edition through the UK Parliamentary process was stalled when a General Election was called for July 2024.
A second edition has now been tabled in the House of Lords by the new Labour government on 24 October 2024.
