Andy T. Hanson is just your average Mid-Michigan native and Army veteran who, in his own words, "discovered a way to travel the universe without ever leaving the comforts of home, by creating authentic people and emotions to share with others. It's a bit like magic in that way, a fantastic sleight of hand. I only regret waiting until my thirties to get started." Residing in Bay City, Michigan, Andy is an avid Detroit and Michigan sports fan. In between Lions games, golf, grilling and chilling with his big family, including his lovely wife Lauren and son Teddy, and devouring science fiction, historical fiction and fantasy novels, he writes sci-fi novels of his own, inspired in large part by George R.R. Martin, Stephen King, Bernard Cornwell, Lee Child and Sara Rosett, with a bit of Stephen Fry, Richard Dawkins, Kurt Vonnegut, Neil Gaiman and Craig Allanson for spice. A fan of well-fleshed out characters, especially gray characters, his favorite part of writing is connecting the readers emotionally to the character before leading the character into a tight spot, with the reader tagging along for the wicked ride, as well as being present as the story grows, nearly organically on its own. The Despot Chronicles, his first sci-fi series, a dystopian, apocalyptic epic, proved fertile ground for that endeavor.
