The aim of this book is to analyse the profile of the student, the educational agents and the use of technology in distance learning and its impact on education, in an attempt to better understand this type of teaching where its quality is so criticised. It is from this perspective that the constituent elements of a new tool for democratising higher education in Brazil are presented. The distance learning modality (ODL) brings benefits to a section of the population that is looking for a higher education qualification, thus broadening their social status.
