Professor Pushpita Awasthi was born in 1960 in Kanpur, India. She studied at the prestigious Banaras (Kashi) Hindu University in India and after obtaining her PhD in Hindi literature, Professor Dr Pushpita Awasthi, Indian-origin European woman, flag-bearer of global human sensibilities by embracing language and stimulating literature. Thinker, philosopher, writer, poet, novelist, journalist, activist, associated with many (non)governmental institutions, make her journey diversified, distinct and distinguished.
Her literary journey is anchored in Indian diaspora with many milestone experiences. Her overseas journeys and prolonged stays resonate across colonial cultures and discover pathos, dilemma, deprivation, struggle, identity crisis and loss of culture of five generations trapped in the matrix of origin and adopted country.
She champions global peace, non-violence and humanity in her writings, with relentless optimism that India is poised to dispel the darkness of this materialistic, value-starved world through light of humanity, spirituality, climate concern, nature-centric approach and harmonisation of culture.
