Meet Andy, in his final year at boarding school for the deaf and finishing with a selection of work experience placements before the summer holidays. Bored with the mundane work experiences available, Andy is offered something different, or as his tutor put it, something that matches his dark and morbid sense of humour.
"How would you feel about working at a funeral company?" The tutor asked.
Andy jumps at the opportunity to spend a week at a family-run Funeral Directing company in Brighton, getting involved in all aspects of the trade and learning about life behind the scenes at an undertaker's. They also learn what it is like to work with Andy, who is severely deaf.
As the week goes on, filled with funny, disgusting and sad moments, Andy quickly becomes part of the team and experiences life-changing moments that make him question his future choices.
Pranks on colleagues, body eruptions, dogs protecting bodies, speeding hearse, drunk relatives, gypsy gangster funeral and so much more, not to mention................ Clowns at a funeral.
