Anne Lauppe-Dunbar was born in South Africa to German parents. The family left Africa during apartheid and travelled to Germany by boat, before settling in the UK. Anne Lauppe-Dunbar now lives in Wales; she is a Creative Writing tutor at Swansea University, where she also studied for her PhD in Creative Writing. Lauppe-Dunbar is also co-editor of Swansea Review. She has written widely, including short stories, novels, poetry and a range of scholarly works. Her 2015 novel Dark Mermaids was shortlisted for the Cross Sports Book Awards, New Writer of the Year 2016.
