Thomas Albert Weaver, II, M.Div., CMSW
Emily Hyatt Weaver, M.Ed.
Tom and Emily met at Belhaven University in Jackson, Mississippi. In 56 years of marriage, they have evidenced a sovereign, yet personal God who provided them with great cause for praise and thanksgiving. In the face of life challenges, brokenness, and loss, they have experienced delight in community, creative work, great humor, and the sheer joy of redemption. Through years of staff and volunteer ministry, Tom and Emily collaborated in teaching the Catechism to their own children, Tom, III and Mary Ella. As well, it was used with other children under their influence. These life lessons for children came from and contributed to their own foundation of faith and practice.
In the middle 1980's, Tom prepared Catechism lessons, using his own creative illustrations. In a winsome manner, he purposed to write, to engage, to explain, and apply Biblical truths geared to young minds. From her experiences in academic classrooms, Emily delivered the lessons to groups of students, eliciting delightful responses. Students completed the studies with a framework of Biblical concepts and definitions, ready for use in their next level of study.
