'The Road Through the Woods' is a light-hearted journey through the author's life. After boarding-school boy in Brighton, during the war, he had a try at farming before he progressed through the regular army, only to decide to plant tea in Kenya. From there life moved him on to the caravan business for a while, and then to open the first male beauty shop in London.A chance offer then led him into the hospitality industry where he remained for the rest of his life. An overriding love of food made sure that this book is as much about what he ate, as where he ate
