This book provides a detail description about the types of refrigeration systems used in modern refrigeration machines and dwells deep on the Vapour Absorption Refrigeration System [VARS]. It further gives an insight on how an existing vapour absorption refrigeration system can be modified to be operated on solar energy and the detailed analysis required for it is also presented along with. This modified cooling system can be extremely useful in rural areas receiving high solar energy particularly in the states of Rajasthan and southern India. Rural areas generally face electricity supply shortages and the rural economy is generally agriculture based. A solar operated VCRS system can prove to be very handy for people residing in these rural areas as it could help them preserve fresh cow milk for around 4-6 hours without any expenditure on refrigeration till it is collected by big milk selling companies. With these thoughts as motivation this research was undertaken and is being presented here.
