The present volume includes the majority of Lucian Blaga's (1895-1961) poetry written before the Communist era. Before the communists banned the publishing of his works, he wrote and had published some 7 books of poetry, a dozen plays, and two dozen works on philosophy.
Though nominated for the Nobel Prize, the communist Romanian government of the time sent emissaries to block the nomination. His work is now widely recognized and read in Romania and Europe today.
